Science Gallery
Technical coordination and delivery of front- and back-of-house wayfinding and façade signage, developed in collaboration with Atelier Works for Science Gallery London.
Working in collaboration with design partners Atelier Works, we supported the delivery of the front- and back-of-house wayfinding scheme alongside a series of building façade signs for Science Gallery London. Our role focused on the technical development and implementation of the signage across both public-facing and operational spaces, ensuring clarity, consistency, and integration within the wider architectural context. All external signage elements required planning permission and listed building consent for advertisement. We facilitated this process in full, preparing and coordinating the necessary submissions and securing approvals through the local authority, Southwark London Borough Council. This early engagement was critical in enabling the smooth delivery of the external works and ensuring compliance with both planning and heritage requirements.During the implementation stage, we coordinated closely with multiple specialist suppliers and manufacturers to deliver a diverse range of internal and external signage elements. This included managing fabrication methods, finishes, and installation sequencing to ensure that the completed system aligned with the design intent while meeting technical, regulatory, and programme constraints.Completed in 2018, the project has since been widely recognised, with the building receiving the AJ Architecture Award for Refurbishment 2019 and being shortlisted for multiple RIBA awards across 2019 and 2020. The project reflects a collaborative approach in which design strategy, technical resolution, and delivery were carefully aligned to support a complex cultural building within a sensitive urban context.
